my statements are rooted on basic physiology..the human body is extremely efficient, and has numerous mechanisms by which it regulates blood pressure, heart rate, etc..your not gonna kill yourself if you drink rockstar before working out LOLOriginally Posted by Shady [Dear Guest/Member, to see the link you must post to the thread Click Here to Register]
Vipa wins!
all yall niggas trynna be the king but the ACE is back!
ok just to answer Vipas post (which I didnt since I know he'd know the pluses and minuses of NO products)
NO products arent anything new, and NO does get some favorable reviews by those who are interested in bodybuilding.
they are typically used by heavy lifters to get an extra boost, but carry the risks of high blood pressure, headaches, diarrhea, sleep issues, increased tension and sometimes sexual dsyfunction
so unless someone is aiming to be the next Mr. Olympia, I personally do not see a point, its another shortcut to try to get swoll
so again, to me, not natural, and not healthy in my opinion
all about heart rate to me, and if you are unnaturally speeding up the heart rate, you risk injury, and of course ur not going to literally dieOriginally Posted by ViPa [Dear Guest/Member, to see the link you must post to the thread Click Here to Register]
redbull ftw
MIAMI HEAT FAN - LETS GOOOOO
shady, you created this thread so you could get suggestions on energy drinks and said "i prefer 1 energy drink a day"..most energy drinks aren't natural, and the boost they give you is because it raises your heart rate unnaturally..based on your most recent post, you shouldn't be asking for suggestions on energy drinks if you don't want to unnaturally raise your heart rate
dude thats sucha nitpicking type comment
The majority of this thread has been now towards taking an energy drink prior to working out, not for the work day like a cup of coffee
thats what these supplements were originally meant for anyway. they weren't meant for staying awake through your work day, but rather having the energy to do manual labor tasks. then someone realized hey if i take a stimulant before working out ill burn more calories, get leaner faster, and build muscle faster because i'll do more sets and/or more weight. it's not rocket science.
and yes there is a level of risk but it's totally exaggerated.
I can agree for the most part with that statement, tho, after sitting here and doing some researching to learn more, there are some potential issues with caffeine possibly working counter to the results seen by getting that stronger workout session in, its that kind of unknown that makes me shy away from taking anything beyond protein supps.
"Many guys who work out take caffeine pills or energy beverages containing caffeine (e.g., coffee or Red Bull) to increase training intensity. Caffeine is a central nervous stimulant used to prevent fatigue and promote mental alertness. Most studies show that caffeine does not increase muscle strength or power, but reduces the perception of fatigue. New Zealand researchers found that caffeine increased testosterone levels during training, with higher doses of caffeine producing higher blood levels of testosterone. Increased testosterone levels make it easier to gain muscle mass and strength with training. The study also showed that caffeine increased cortisol— a catabolic hormone linked to protein breakdown, which might nullify caffeine’s beneficial effects on testosterone. Caffeine provides an energy boost to train harder and might also promote training gains by increasing testosterone levels." (International Journal Sport Nutrition Exercise Metabolism, 18: 131-141, 2008
^yeah, to a very minute degree lol..if you want to naturally increase testosterone, work out your legs really hard..the most amount of testosterone is produced when working out legs

I found the full article, and read the whole article, 400mg seems to be the magic caffeine #, and looking at the can I have in front of me it says a blend of 1000mg, fuck me in the goat ass lol
hahahaaOriginally Posted by Shady [Dear Guest/Member, to see the link you must post to the thread Click Here to Register]
just drink 2/5 of the canOriginally Posted by Shady [Dear Guest/Member, to see the link you must post to the thread Click Here to Register]
edit: nvm you said blend
holy fuck 400mg is ALOT still.
i did a search on caffeine content:
coffee = roughly 120mg
redbull = 80mg
rockstar = 80mg
so youd have to drink 5 cans of rockstar/redbull to get 400mg of caffeine (or 61% increase in test from what your article said) haha
jesus christ i'd die.
^yeah omg..thats A LOTT
just read this thread after i posted... when i started trying to workout and went into GNC, he basically told me to take any type of energy drink prior to working out.. it is a thermogenic i believe was his exact words so your body heats up burning more fat
^yeah..hes right
i'm gonna have to go ahead and agree that energy drink consumption for the purpose of working out is not a good thing. It's important for your heart to get strong along with the rest of your body when you're working out. If you have a strong chest, arms, legs, back, etc, but you have a weak ass heart, you're screwed in the long run...short run too really.
When you lift or run naturally at the gym without stimulants, your heart rate increases naturally ofcourse, giving it a proper workout. If you're stimulating that shit artificially with caffeine, your heart rate increases ofcourse..but its all chemically induced...its not the same thing.
Bottom line, jog or get on the bike machine for 5-10 minutes before you start your routine if you want energy. I took some caffeine type drink before working out for a week once and ask Vishal, my heartrate was all over the place, I was scurred![]()
"Fuck the club dawg I'd rather count a million bucks."
