Lost Soul use to dj on XM Radio, its not hot 97 but its a larger market when hot 97 is whateva thousands that get it when satellite has a few million listeners. Also DJ Bejal is on sirius on the same channel as dj envy so thats a look good for us being on the same channel as a big name dj as envy. I think dj wise we have a broken thru with these two guys but artist wise I dont see that happening anytime soon.
Satellite isnt big yet cause the money factor... people still want free radio and thats what majority of the people listen to.

You have these 2 doing their shit on Satellite but it doesnt mean anything cause do they have a following? respect? does the south asian community have love for them? are they trying to bring their own out there? I mean i havent heard of them so I dont know

In regards to indian artists and indian rappers and all that...i respect people who are hustling and grinding but some of you really need to get your head out of your ass and try another route.

Another question to all you music heads...is the indian guy at bad boy helping the indian cause?...like what does he exactly do? I am just thinking if he is up there and does have clout maybe he can help the rising talent get some visibility by putting them in front of the right people.

But for those artist in america singing in hindi or punjabi that shit is not happening unless you work with someone like Diddy, Jay-Z, Pharrell...

Jay Gatzby - the guy at Bad Boy - has done more in my opinion to bring together desi tastemakers nationwide then I've seen anyone do. Although he can't devote 100% of his time to it since his JOB job is bad boy, and if he devoted too much time to this cause, it would be probably result him losing his job because of "conflict of interests". But in my opinion Jay's a good guy, grinds hard, tries helpin out the network, keeps the DJs in touch with desi upcoming artists, as well as gives us that feeling of the family network nationwide that otherwise would be very difficult to build. Hats off to him.

yea I think he gets a bad rap...while some of his actions may warrant that rap, i think you gotta respect that cat's hustle...last time he was in DC, he stopped by my club and 2 others that night, while going to an album release party (the1shanti), all the while passing out promo material and linkin up with different DJs...I was definitely impressed...I mean no one is really doing what he is at least trying to do...so you gotta give the man some respect...

So he is helping out Djs and stuff by giving you material of bad boy artists..basiclly helping himself promote bad boy artists

But does he have the ability to put the south asian artists infront of Bad Boys A&R or like whats his deal?

he could put cds in front of A&R's but that doesnt mean they will listen to it, A&R's ussually go by who djs are talkin about and who is all over mixtapes, that how joe budden got signed.

gatzby seems like hes makin shit happen but arent we talking about breaking thru as in artist/dj wise?

The thing your saying about A&Rs is not true. It all depends on your relationship with the A&R department

Regarding breaking through if you have an individual at a major record label he or she could help the first south asian artist break out...basiclly it a group effort rather then a solo operation
