Do you prefer one over the other? I have never used a glossy screen laptop before but Im thinking of getting a glossy screen. They look hot, but I've read that the gloss causes a lot of glare, and sometimes your eyes hurt after long viewing.

How is Serato on a glossy screen in the dark, does any outside lighting get in the way?

well using this page as an example the background turns black, the orange outline around "quote" turns blue

i have a mac w/ a glossy screen, there is a small glare if its really sunny (not under normal lights) its never bothered me before

at clubs i like the glossy screen more compared to a matte screen, I feel that it is easier to read stuff in serato

just get the Matte finish. Why deal with glare problems(which there definitely are) when you don't have to. It's an unnecessary pain to have just for a slight visual improvement which is negligable anyway.

^^ yes, but if your watching a movie, the colors are subrup on a glossy but colors arent right, colors are a little darker etc.

but idk, i'm thinking of getting a macbook pro soon, waitiing for os 10.5 to come out, i'm thinking of using it for graphics/video editing so matte would be better but glossy looks so much cooler!

the apple ppl recommend matte though so unsure.

Ashish....are you planning to get a Macbook? -- It seems like you are.

My current lappy is a anti-glare (matte) screen, but I think I will be getting the glossy when I upgrade. The colors are much more vivid, and it's a lot better for watching a movie, or working with graphics. As far as serato is concerened....unless you plan to use the laptop directly in sunlight, it wont produce glare...and in the event you are using it outdoors in direct sunlight you can get a glare sheild which you can put on only when you need it.

Since it doesnt cost any more I would reccomend to get the glossy screen, but after all it is matter of preference.

^^ Bro, if you can...wait for the 10.5 release....not only will they release the OS, but apple is notorious for doing RIDICULOUS sales/component upgrades when they release new OSs

My Qosmio has a glossy screen. It serves as a mirror to see who is approaching up on me..haha. But I love it overall, even though, it must be cleaned often. I'm a neat-freak so it doesn't really matter...

Im getting it primarily for Serato, and maybe a few other music software..getting a decent deal on it, so Im gonna go for it. Im gonna need it starting now till November every single weekend.

And if it crashes, I still have my trusty Dell which has never crashed on me with Serato hehe

    macbook pro will be straight

    i use a normal macbook, 2ghz, 1gb ram
never crashed, serato runs really smooth

at a party i turn everything off, but when I am just practicing at home i usually have wireless on, aim, and a recording software and it still runs perfect for hours and hours

Update: Glossy LED Screen on 15 Macbook Pro is really good. Very minimal glare, especially at high brightness, and it is automatically adjusted to light conditions....

You dont have to worry about glare being a huge problem, unless you are planning to use it in the sun. I feel that the glossy screen is much nicer and produces a better picture than the antiglare....

I havent used it in the dark for serato yet...but I am sure it will be amazing nonetheless
